Position: Technical Writer (w/ Human Factors, Help, FrameMaker)
Needed: ASAP
Duration: Approx. 1 year
Contract Assignment (W-2 basis only) at good hourly rates

Job Description:
Design, develop, deliver, and update state-of-the-art,
performance-centered online and paper learning support for users and
administrators of the telephony software systems. Review system
requirements and software design documents to determine impact of new
system features and/or modifications. Work closely with application
developers and systems engineers to gather information for the learning
support products.

As a member of a self-directed work team, your responsibilities include:

* Create and update online and paper information (both task-oriented and
reference-oriented) for telephony software systems.
* Develop in-depth knowledge of the associated products.
* Manage multiple and diverse assignments effectively.
* Improve existing materials from a usability perspective
* Work independently to translate complex information into easy-to-use
procedural materials that will help users do their jobs more
effectively.
* Estimate future work and plan project schedules.
* Adhere to existing quality processes.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor or Masters degree in one of the following area:

* Instructional Technology
* Computer Science
* Human Factors
* Technical Communications
* Engineering
(or equivalent work experience)

* Three or more years of technical writing experience
* Experience in a telecommunications related industry (at least 1 year).

* Intermediate level knowledge of FrameMaker 5 (a plus)
* Knowledge of ForeHelp and HyperHelp would be helpful
* Experience writing installation and/or system administration guides
for Unix applications preferred
* Candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills,
presentation skills, and interpersonal teaming skills
* Information Mapping knowledge
* Comfortable working in both a PC and Unix environment
* Additional types of knowledge or skills required include:
- Learning theory
- Performance technology
- Data collection techniques
* User needs and task analysis
