Position #1: Technical Writer
The Technical Writer is responsible for writing, editing, and
formatting a variety of technical documents, including user
guides, requirements documents, tech notes, white papers,
online help, internal policy documents, and some technical
marketing documents.
Candidates must have a university degree, some training in
technical documentation, and a solid understanding of
computers and computing technology.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their writing and
design skills by presenting a portfolio of their work.
Minimum skills required:
- Technical writing
- Technical editing
- Indexing
- Desktop publishing
- Experience using Windows NT and Unix operating systems
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat, Adobe FrameMaker (or
Adobe PageMaker), Microsoft Word, and a graphics application
such as Paint Shop Pro
Additional skills (advanced):
- HTML and web page development
- Online help development
- Knowledge of a programming language such as C, C++,
or Java
- Experience using source control software such as Visual
Source Safe or CVS
- Understanding of commercial printing and graphic design

Position #2: Bilingual Technical Writer
The Bilingual Technical Writer is responsible for translating
existing English documents into German as well as writing,
editing, and formatting technical documents. Candidates
must have training in technical documentation and a solid
understanding of computing technology. Three to five years'
experience as a writer in the computer industry (or three to
five years in programming) with a demonstrated writing
ability is desired. Fluency in German is required.
