Any issues on NT?

Please pardon the cross-post, but the question is the same for each
group.

I'm being offered an upgrade to a new computer. Standard policy for new
machines is to go with NT, but I'm being offered the opportunity to stay
with W95 or 98 if it will make my life easier.

What are the considerations? Do I need a different version of
application software? What do I need to know about Type 1 font handling?
TT font handling?

If anyone who has been through this transition can shed some light, I'd
be most grateful.

The applications I am concerned about are:

PageMaker 6.52
Acrobat (currently 3, but willing to try 4 if you can convince me it's
stable under NT)
Dreamweaver
RoboHelp HTML
Illustrator 8

And a more generic NT user question. It doesn't come with a built in
defrag utility. Is it worthwhile to get a third-party tool, or does the
OS handle disk management well enough without it?

Thanks very much for any advice.
