Jill's situation got me to thinking...

There are two sides to micromanagement. If you're the manager and, for
whatever reason, you don't have a comfort level with what goes out the
door, you have to do *something* to make sure you're following through
on your ethical obligation to provide quality documentation. If you find
yourself in that position, you can create standards, checklists, and the
like. You can also come up with tools that will help teach your people
the skills they need in order for you, the manager, to be comfortable
with the situation.

Beyond that, what can you do on the management side to balance your
ethical obligation with the desire to not micromanage?
