Subject:Ligatures in Windows From:JK Wilson <JKWilson -at- CONCENTRIC -dot- NET> Date:Thu, 26 Aug 1999 21:43:20 -0400
To produce ligatures and other special characters, many Windows-based
typesetting systems use expert fonts, available for quite a few popular and
classic typeface families. Expert fonts include a full set of f-ligatures
(ff, fi, fl, ffi, ffl, ft, etc.), true small caps, old-style figures,
fractions, and super and subscript numerals and letters. The downside, of
course, is having to get another font and use either the character map or a
keyboard chart.
