Andrew Plato wrote a not-very-amusing accusation that Tom Murrell fills his documentation with inaccuracies. Maybe I missed something, but I didn't get that from Tom's assertion that a tech writer ought to keep the audience in mind.
Andrew, it is possible to be accurate, to write well, and to consider issues like readability, audience needs, and productivity of tools. Certainly someone as brilliant as you claim to be can handle all that at once, right?
Tech writing is not a zero-sum game. Gaining an understanding of the audience does mean losing accuracy. Just get over it, Andrew.
