Katie,

Kevin frequently does bring up other topics--check the archives. He makes
an excellent point about tools list serves. Perhaps we all rely far too
much on this list to give us answers to everything. There are also
excellent lists for questions of copy editing where the contributors discuss
the endless debates of "a" vs "an" and how many spaces after a period.
There are lists for asking questions on font and page design. So maybe
laziness and whining really have their roots in the question of how many
subs can your ebox handle?

Whining is a matter of perspective--delete them if you feel the need, but my
perspective is that complaining without suggesting alternatives is an
egregious form of whining.

So rather than whine, I'll say that I'd rather see more debate on what kind
of information goes in a help file vs a user manual, can you really single
source effectively, the latest on achieving maximum usability, the
importance of integrating visual elements with text, and potential career
paths than one more message on how wonderful Framemaker is.

MTC

Then start a conversation about something else. If something interests
you, bring it up.

Personally, I think this is a whining mailing list.
