Susan Gallagher writes about her experience 'helping' a Grad student
set up a Word template only to have the Grad student take the easy way
out of formatting a page break (? I'm guessing) using a couple of hard
returns. She goes on to say:

I don't think so. You did a good deed and tried to help someone. Sounds
like you helped them as much as they could take. I don't know if this
person would be the one attempting to get a job someday, but they'll
learn (or maybe not) about unintended consequences.
I know when I open a Word document, any Word document, I have the
hidden characters, spaces, and such always turned on. Of course, I get
a lot of stuff where I work written by people who can barely use Word,
so I'm used to 'fixing' things. But if a resume came in like that, I
can imagine doing what you do with it.
