What I'm about to say only applies IF you're using the
Windows NT operating system. Word uses a different print
driver than Acrobat, so Acrobat isn't hearing your page size
settings. You can either:

* Use the crop tool on the PDF to get the smaller page size
you desire. This might take some fooling around to position
your matter in the middle of the Word page.

* Create a custom dummy printer by editing a PPD. This will
have your custom page sizes in a form that Word and Acrobat
can both talk about and understand, and it's not that
difficult.
