Not really. It all depends how the material is licenced. Licenses such
as the Free Documentation Licence make provisions for additions and
compiliations of material without reducing the company's rights to be
regarded as owner of the material.

Admittedly, such licences have never been officially upheld in court.
However, so far, there has been no need to. These licences are widely
used, and, so far, public pressure has been all that is needed to uphold
them. It helps that the FDL and GNU GPL were drafted by a Columbia law
professor (who also spearheaded the defence for the writer of PGP), so
that the language is tight enough that any challenge would be expensive
to mount.
