Bob, just from my previous nine years in H.R., please take a look at SUN's
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)accommodations policies. If your boss
hasn't spoken with H.R., yet, s/he may need to because The Americans with
Disabilities Act may impact this decision. In fact, your boss should run
this through H.R., first, before talking with you. At a former employer many
iterations ago, the work station had to be reconfigured for the
newly-disabled employee, at the company's expense.

Please consult with your local Labor Relations/ADA attorney for advice
before you respond to your boss's request. Some legal eagles will take a
quick and easy question on a pro-bono basis. (Look up ADA on the WWW as
well.)

Good luck!

Jenise

I'm working at home full-time as a writer/editor because of a disability
using Sun's work station on an ISDN line. Now that my company
is facing hard times, My boss is concerned about
the cost of ISDN and wants me to use my PC on a DSL line.
I asked if they would pay me something for the use of my PC
and the answer was no. I'm been a regular employee for 6 years.

I know I'm lucky to have a job and be working at home but I'm
wondering if I should push the request to be paid for use of
my PC or just be happy to donate my PC for 8 hours a day?
