As I mentioned a few days ago:

http://www.barnesandnobleuniversity.com/

It offers several *free*, study-at-yer-own-pace courses, including:

Adobe Photoshop 6 Basics
Advanced Adobe Photoshop Applications
Beginning Web Animation with Macromedia Flash 5
Building Your First Web Page
Graphic Design for Non-Designers
How to Build Your First Web Site
Intermediate C++ by Metrowerks
Introduction to Access 2000
Introduction to C++ by Metrowerks
Introduction to Java
Introduction to Microsoft Visual Basic
Introduction to Programming
Introduction to XML
Web Site Design and Management

You probably won't become an expert after any of these courses, but they
would be a good way to get your feet wet. As for programming, I would
recommend starting with "Introduction to Programming," which is a general
introduction to the basic concepts and is not language specific.

One caveat, however, new lessons for all the current classes are added two
days a week, and the traffic on the site is horrible on those days. As luck
would have it, one of those days is today.
