[HATT] problem automatically marking index entries in Word 2000

Using a concordance file to autoMark the index entries in a Word 2000 document, I just realized that word fragments are getting marked along with whole words. I.e., I have the word "star" in my table and the words "start," "starting," and "restart" are also getting an index entry embedded within the word. 

Is there a setting in Word that I can use to tell it to apply the indexing only to whole word matches? It's a 200 page doc so the thought of combing through it searching for every occurrence is a bit daunting.

Or is there an alternative to the autoMark function that might not have this behavior?

Thanks, I've been crawling through the archives of every list I can think of without finding any mention of this problem.
