Hi,
I have a question I thought maybe someone can help me with. I have searched
the archives and haven't found anything, but I'm unsure whether I'm using
the correct terminology anyway, so please forgive me if you've covered this
before--I am brand new to the list. Here's the issue.
We've just started using a new functionality to replace tabs on dialogues.
The dialogue now opens with a "tree view list" on the left side, and, on the
right side, the functionality corresponding to whatever you select in that
list. It seems the general functionality is called "tree view" and the left
part specifically a "tree view list." So far so good, but is there any
standard for what we call the right side? "Dialogue" does not seem
appropriate because the whole thing is the dialogue--this is at the
sub-dialogue level. Pane doesn't seem quite right to me either, because this
is dialogue functionality, not a window. I'm leaning towards "panel" in the
absence of any other standard.
I haven't been able to find any information on this interface element,
though I know it is being used increasingly. Can anyone point me in the
right direction for information on standards for documenting this?
Thanks!
