If you go about it this way, don't be surprised if you get a "Get Bent" in
response to any question you ask in the future. (if you get a response at
all...) This is a small issue. Don't turn it into a major battle about
respect and job responsibilities. It isn't worth it. If you have a style
guide that covers this issue, point to it, shrug, and move on. If not, write

Remember, engineers know things. Things that we need to know. They are our
friends... smelly, pompous, moody friends* maybe, but friends all the same.
