I'd heartily suggest a move to a database (Access would probably be
easiest, given that they're already using Word) for keeping the test
procedures, expected results, etc. Then, what you want to do is run a
report in Access where you output the test plan in a landscape format,
using tables and such.

The resulting output will print out with virtually the same appearance
as a Word document but let you retain complete control over appearance.

The book from Microsoft Press called _Managing the Testing Process_ by
Rex Black is really helpful when it comes to setting up testing
databases in Access. IIRC, the book even includes a CD with sample
databases.
