Sorry about the late reply - I'm on digest and get behind quickly, but I
thought this was important enough to share with everyone. Anon asked about
finding insurance as s/he's contemplating taking a six month contract which
may turn permanent. If it's just short-term health insurance you're looking
for, American Family offers an inexpensive short-term insurance option that
may fit the bill. The longest term they offer is six months and it's
non-renewable, but it's made for people who need short-term health
insurance for whatever reason.

For more details, check it out at
http://www.amfam.com/options/health/othheal.asp. There's some details
there, but you may need to locate and contact an AmFam agent for more
information. I purchased this insurance myself last January when we were
relocating, and it's really affordable - much better than COBRA! However,
we never had need to see a doctor in that time, so I can't comment on the
services they offer. However, it is a good option for short-term insurance
if you need it.
