I think your mistaken and that many might agree with me. Not everyone can "writer" and since we're supposed to be doing the best possible COMMUNICATION work in order to COMMUNICATE with customers, I'd say it would be a major failing to make that assumption and hire the wrong person. A good TW needs to know how to communicate and how to learn how to do technical stuff.
