Hi Folks,

Two points on this issue:

1. In writing for a software admin audience I have
often had to use both "you" and "the user," for
(poorly worded) example, "If you change setting x, the
user will no longer have access to module y."

I use "you" for the audience I am addressing and "the
user" for other users--those effected by "your"
actions.

2. Writer Whirler, in the original post asked "any
opinions?" On this list, I think that's guaranteed.
