Although be aware that it can become noticeable. Best demonstartion of lossy
compression is to open a jpg in photoshop, zoom in on an area, and do multiple
saves. With each save, its get blurrier and blurrier. And unlike the fictional
world of film and tv spy stories, once the information is gone from the image
there is no way to bring it back.
If using jpg, keep a copy in a non-lossy format. Do all modofications to the
non-lossy original and save as jpg when ready to use.
