Another problem is that you can't stop them from changing the toolbars, macros, styles, and auto-text once you decentralize the definitions by storing them in the .doc file. That's one of the advantages in keeping them in a separate .dot file.

I understand that you can't make them install a .dot file, though; so Martin's suggestion is probably the best solution. Maybe you can persuade them not to get too creative...and teach them not to use Enter, tabs, and spaces to create white space. ;)
