This is going to sound hardcore, but here goes...
> I've been in this role for a month, but a new development
> manager wants to know why they need a tech writer at this
stage.
If after being there a month, the reason is not already
evident, then maybe they don't.
> + There is a advantage to providing continuity (to protect
information
> integrity of approach via a concurrent documentation
"shadow") throughout
> the process: from prototyping to development and rollout.
I don't even know what the above item means.
>From a business justification standpoint, neither of these,
and nothing LIKE these are the justification. The
justification must be one or more of the following:
-Save real money
-Make real money
-Gain marketshare
-Gain a competitive advantage
-Protect against legal action (see the first item)
-Comply with regulatory requirements
You gotta think in terms of bottom line...something that can
be shown in a graph. To keep your job, your goal should be
that at the end of every day, look back objectively and pick
at least one thing you've done that day that translates into
$$....even better if amount of $$ is more than what they
paid you that day.
