TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
1. The first issue is about simplifying the design of Help, and as a result,
the printed document it produces. I'm thinking in terms of standalone
modules (where a module would be a TOC H1) without references or links to
other modules, except for toc and index. It would be better if I don't
provide examples, so we can instead talk about someone else's workable
experiences.
Sounds like a standard RH project using conditional tags to generate
multiple outputs.
2. The second issue is about RoboHelp versions. We're running Classic on
Word on Windows 2000. We purchased 3X some time ago and would like to use
it - however, it would be good to have your recommendations. Our needs are
simple - WebHelp and printed manuals. No XML, flash, image mapping, PDF
output. Single writer.
If you can avoid the X versions, so much the better.
