I think the STC should refocus as a clearing house of information and a
unifying force between other professional organisations. If you're working
in the electronics industry, the STC should immediately point you to which
IEEE groups to join. In partnership with the IEEE the STC should then work
to adopt/promote the best, most universally applicable, standards from the
IEEE in other industries and promote practices and standards from other
industries to the IEEE.
The STC should identify and avoid/eliminate similar efforts in different
industry groups (or between industry groups or organisations and the STC).
