This is only half the picture. It is the half that we cannot directly
change. We can't make "the employer" think differently, at least not
directly. The focus should not be on "the employer". The focus should
be on me, it should be on you, and anyone interested in "demonstrating
value". I've spent a huge chunk of my professional life demonstrating
value. I did so external to "the employer". That's the only way you
can proceed. If you demonstrate value - real value - to yourself, you
can then grow that out. But if you believe you can't do it because of
a 3rd party ("the employer"), then you're doomed to fail.
