Good God, the STC and various Chapters have their Job Boards backwards.
Looking at Monster.ca (so these prices are probably $Can) they charge the
following fees for job postings:
1-2 $ 495 ea. 3-4 $ 465 ea. 5-9 $399 ea. 10-14 $345 ea. 15-24 $297 ea.
25-29 $286 ea.
And, viewing them is free.
You'd think that if the STC and all the local chapters coordinated their
efforts they would be able to charge more than Monster, Dice, and the
others. After all they could deliver far better targeted candidates.
So, instead of holding members hostage for a few bucks in membership fees,
they should let anyone search their job bank for free and charge the
employers. How many jobs does the STC job bank have currently? To
encourage local chapter participation, make it easy to link the job bank
through their websites and give them a cut of all revenues earned by
posting purchased through their site or representative.
Heck, if they wanted to limit development requirements, perhaps they could
partner with one of the existing Job search sites.
