I was raised in the wonderful state of Georgia and my wonderful hubby is
from Scotland. We lived many years in the UK. So we actually joke about
this in our household and he is constantly commenting about the American
"bastardization" of the English language. His view is American's think of
everything as disposable even the language..if we don't like we just shorten
and make it easier to use. We also have a thirteen year old and the
attempts at ebonics in his presence are hilarious. Granted she does know
how to speak properly, it is merely a aggravation for DAD. Having lived
with the many differences thru the years I even find myself attempting to
speak with more clarity, and carefully choosing my words before speaking.
Funny how one word can mean so many different things....what a difference a
mile makes.

My 2 pence...
Angie Brunson-Watson
