It could be that they are simply too highly focused
on symbol manipulation and pattern recognition,
the main skills tested with IQ tests.

While useful skills, they give you neither
wisdom nor purpose, so "success" at any larger
aspect of life can be elusive.

Worse, those with high IQs frequently mistake
those skills for wisdom, too, with predictable
results.
