Kevin,

I mentioned Active Directory since there are so many Microsoft
networks around. LDAP is available from many different companies,
including IBM (Tivoli), Novell, and quite a few others.

I am particularly fond of the Novell suite, allowing single signon
throughout an enterprise as well as rapid provisioning of computing
resources--all in a very secure environment.

There is also a completely open source LDAP solution (perhaps more
than one). See http://www.openldap.org -- it has quite a bit of
information that will be useful on whatever system your company
introduces, I think.

There is no doubt that an LDAP-enabled enterprise mail system is far
more useful than any other present methods--and, since it represents a
central mail resource, it eliminates the soon-outdated personal
addressbook stuff and saves incredible time.

Now back to my own job search...

David
