This is another easy question, so long as you weren't FIRED from all
of them. ;-)

Me, I've had six jobs since 1995, and I've contracted on my own
in-between jobs. When I am asked the question, I reply to the tune of
"unfortunately many of the companies I have worked for ran into tough
times and needed to let a lot of people go in very large layoffs".

If they want detail, I go into detail about each place they ask about.
I have nothing to hide. In many cases after being laid off, I was
asked to come back, but by that time I'd already settled into a new
position. Besides, I personally wouldn't go back to a company that
laid me off because I wouldn't be sure if it would happen again if
times again became tough.
