This is not the first time this came up in a thread like this. I
learned how to script using NSIS, a freeware (but not open source)
tool for creating installers. It's been used by the likes of Sun,
Apache, and Google to distribute their software. I haven't found
anything that I couldn't do with it that you can do with InstallShield
and the like, and free is a lot cheaper than the $1,000 pricetag most
of the others have.

I had always had in the back of my mind the desire to get involved as
a tech writer on open source projects. It seems that maybe it would be
more valuable if I got involved as an installer-writer!
