Subversion is actually a very good version control system and there are many
GUI front-end tools to it. There is even one that integrates with MS Visual
Studio.

Given a choice between SVN and VSS, I choose SVN. I don't like Tortoise SVN
so, when using GUI, my front-end of choice is eSVN
