Hi Rob,

this very much depends on the brand's values. Is it cheap and cheerful, or is it about providing the best possible value. If either of these then perhaps not.

If the brand is up-market, high-end, customer expects to be paying for a quality product then it almost certainly undermines the value of the brand.

What ever the situation, there is no reason why, as part of the product, the documentation should not reflect the same values and standards as the other components.

There's nothing wrong with black and white, if it's done at the appropriate standard. Though, of course, colour can help, especially with warnings, highlights, etc. My main concern would be more with cheap paper.
