You guys make me feel bad. 
$25/hr is what I'm making and I have 22 years experience in software and 
machine controls.
The Ohio economy is about the most depressed in the nation right now.

I should also mention that I see ads in the area from c
ompanies offering as low as *$25/hr.*  I can't imagine 
what kind of a technical writer they think they're going 
to get for that rate.  At my last company my admin made 
almost that much.
