Hired gun seems to fit. I'll work as long as they want me to. In the
final analysis, we are all only temporary, contract workers. It's
just that some of us work with an open ended contract and additional
benefits. Others work for shorter contracts, and, and some service
multiple customers on a recurring basis or in a serial or parallel
fashion.
The circumstances are simply peculiar to the situation we find ourselves in.
