I had a manager once who only considered me to be working if he could hear
key-clicks.  I was designing an entire ISO documentation control system and
writing all the documents from scratch -- there was a fair amount of
thinking time involved, d-uh!  He was a moron in general and we did not stay
under the same roof for long.

Talk to them about this click-measurement piece and your concern.  It's
perfectly okay to pay a typist by key-click.  If they have not considered
the difference between writing and typing, and are not going to pay you for
thinking time, run away.
