For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Based on my experience with multiple startups, my guess is that
the company will not have answers for your questions 2, 3 and 4.
You should go to the interview prepared to discuss how *you*
will make the necessary assessments, and what training and
tools you consider essential for you to be able to evaluate and
meet their needs.
I would also ask about the company's strategic plan for reaching
profitability and maturity. A small startup may be reluctant to
discuss theirs with a candidate in any detail, but they should at
least be able to tell you with a straight face that they have one.
