Some employers don't value that range of professional skills, though.

I think it's more a mix of both getting the right people into the right
roles as well as educating and supporting (long term) people to, as
Geoff stated, be responsible for their own success.

All these roles (programmer, UI designer, project manager, writer) have
their specialization and their value, but without the drive to succeed
(as well as willingness to work as a team) they won't get far.<snip>
