TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
It's Friday night, and I'm officially on vacation (hurray!!). I have an
idea....
Maybe we can get 10 people to pay $10 each and get the paid version and then
share it? I'd be interested to see the depth of information provided.
Judging from the free version (and keeping in mind I'm in Canada), the
salaries reported really do suck. There's a big drop from 5 years ago. I
swear I never lied on the STC salary survey, but now I (and almost every
other techwriter I know) make so much more than the average. This is not a
good thing, in my mind. How can I hope to get decent increases when salary
surveys like this would only encourage my employer to freeze my salary.
