Not if what you're trying to do is make relatively minor changes.  I've built 
new documents from PDF conversions from time to time, usually because a company 
had documents from an OEM supplier or some other form of acquisition that only 
came as PDFs, but the idea was to create new documents, not revisions.  There 
are too many things that happen to PDF content during conversion to make it 
feasible for anything but a major reauthoring.

This is a very useful thread. I am sure all of us, or at least the majority, 
would have faced this problem at some point.
I have tried to deal with it by converting the pdf into Word format (using one 
of the free pdf to word converters) make edits to the Word doc and create a pdf. 
But I am still to find a converter good enough to retain the formatting in the 
converted Word doc.
Is this a good way to deal with this issue?
