As an entirely personal preference, I'd use "uninstall," since that is the revers of "installing" software. You can remove software just by deleting the directories it uses, but I think that doesn't qualify as uninstalling because it doesn't really change the computer's configuration.

As far as I know, there isn't an official standard on this. I guess use what your readers find most comfortable.
