It all goes back to Anon's desired relationship with this company.
Sometimes it might be better to just take the walk and find other
places where her skills are better valued. Side contracting while
working is tough, and really not worth it unless the pay is up there.
Let them do the work themselves and determine if a contractor does
provide better value.

If Anon appreciates the working relationship with the previous
company, then a deal could be in order. However, for someone who's
"been TWer long enough", then that rate is extremely low taking into
account the region where I work. Unless the company wants her to
compete with offshore contractors, they should be able to offer a
better rate.
