I agree that you would never choose between surgeons with comparable
surgical expertise on the basis of their grammar.

However, if I might briefly return to the subject line, you might indeed
choose between security consultants with comparable security expertise
on the basis of their writing skills.

Many books really, mainly those by Marcus Buckingham (First Break all
The Rules, Now Discover Your Strengths,...), but Seth Godin hammers that
home in Linchpin too.

If you need brain surgery, Seth explains, you want a brain surgeon who
is the last word in brain surgery. You don't really give a flying flip
if her grammar sucks, or she can't drive, or has terrible hair. The one
thing that matters is that she can fix your problem as if it were never
there. You could learn to live with everything else.
