I've been a technical editor at SAS for almost 15 years now. And I'm not going to give away any corporate secrets or reference any legends. :-)
I will say one thing, though: I'm better at math than the average bear. And it has certainly been known to help me on the job.

According to legend, many of the tech writers at SAS (a company that makes statistical software) have PhDs in statistics. The person who wrote that article did not sample the TW field adequately.
