"Select and clear: Use for check boxes."
Also from MSTP:
"Enable, enabled: Avoid in end-user documentation... In developer
documentation, it is acceptable to speak of a feature or function as
enabled."

Yes. The option is enabled or disabled. Don't call attention to the UI
control checked or unchecked status (according to MSTP).
