In the early days of my career, I wrote storyboards for video production projects while working as a professional photographer.ÂOne of those projects caught the attention of an IT manager. He hired me to videotape a software training class.ÂI wrote a storyboard for the project to help me to understand the software so I could edit the video properly.ÂLater, the IT manager told me that his programmers were using my storyboard to learn the software because it was easier to follow than the training materials supplied by the vendor.ÂHope this helps.ÂWill HusaÂWill Husa sent this message from his Verizon wireless deviceÂ

hiring newbies I am working on the second edition of "The Insider's Guide to Technical Writing" and would like to update the section on breaking into the field. Job-hunting has changed a lot over the years, and it seems to be harder than ever for a new graduate or career-changer to meet real hiring managers or get around the impersonal job application software. For hiring managers: How do you recruit new hires who have no experience? What do you look for when hiring someone like this? For individual contributors who have started within the last ten years: How did you find your first job?Krista Van Laan^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Visit TechWhirl for the latest on content technology, content strategy and content development | https://techwhirl.com^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^You are currently subscribed to TECHWR-L as will -dot- husa -at- 4techwriter -dot- com -dot- To unsubscribe send a blank email totechwr-l-leave -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- comSend administrative questions to admin -at- techwr-l -dot- com -dot- Visithttp://www.techwhirl.com/email-discussion-groups/ for more resources and info.Looking for articles on Technical Communications? Head over to our online magazine at http://techwhirl.comLooking for the archived Techwr-l email discussions? Search our public email archives @ http://techwr-l.com/archives
