TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
A couple of months back (and periodically before then) the list has discussed
what is
and isn't legitimate to ask for in a tech writer resume. Here is one that beats
all:
There is an ad in the back of the Sept. issue of INTERCOM (an STC publication)
that
asks candidates for a tech writing position to send a resume including GPA (3.6
or
above) and SAT scores (1400 or higher).
This is so absurd, that I will refrain from adding scathing comments.
