And isn't a "message of the day" feature standard in all UNIX
systems?

The contents of MS's Tip of the Day are probably copyrighted, but
I can't imagine the concept being restricted in any way. (In
fact, I don't think it legally *can* be.) Whether or not MS has
trademarked "Tip of the Day" is another story to which I don't
know the answer.
