Depends on what else you might care to write, Harry, and of course
what you can sell. A pretty open field lies ahead, IMHO. If you
insisted on opting out of any technical communications path (and that
is a big if -- many of us would ask you why) you could bring your
background to business or computer journalism. You get look for work
in technical marketing or public relations. You could teach. Having
developed an eye for technical details, perhaps you could segue into
science writing or editing. Have you ever thought about writing a
novel about your experiences at a tech writer, or perhaps a situation
comedy for television? Don't pay too much attention to where the
oportunites supposedly are. Go out and make your own opportunities.
