Colleagues,

Use a dictionary? USE A DICTIONARY? Are you incredibly mad? Use a
dictionary and you might actually learn something. Besides, it's much
easier and sooo much more fun to just ask on techwr-l and wait until
someone posts something that sounds cool.

Seriously, doesn't Roget's famous tome contain antonyms? Doesn't
Webster also publish such a volume? Surely there are others. If
hyperbole doesn't have an opposite number, perhaps it is not the word
you seek.?.?.?

Wasn't it Twain who said something like "the difference between using
the right word and the almost right word is like the difference between
lightning and lightning bug?"
